This past weekend some friends of mine decided to roast marshmallows because, hey, it's summer, and that's the sort of thing people do.  Well, we weren't camping (nor could we really afford to) and the idea of roasting marshmallows with Bic lighters didn't really fly with them, so they improvised.

What ridiculous things have you done this summer?

I went to the Everglades.

Anyone who doesn't know, it's a big national park swamp with lots of unusual wildlife.

Eesh, I don't miss full time work. Then again, I have spent the last few months solidly applying for jobs. Had no luck so far. I had my fingers crossed for this night job sweeping trains, but alas, they turned me down.

That sounds really good. Where is it?

Only even remotely interesting things I've done this summer:

1. Joined in a stampede started by a comedian at a festival.
2. Started going through Twin Peaks again.

The Everglades is in Florida.
I did several tours and photo shoots there - it is quite the experience to get up at the crack of dawn, hop onto a airboat with a toothless, redneck local and tear through the mindblogglingly massive swamp in search of alligators, egrets, and orchids! If you ever find yourself in Miami or near 'bouts, then it is a must see.

My thoughts as well.

Disneyworld is the only way you can drag me into that state.

Oh that's cool. I'm from a place with so few job opportunities that everyone feels like they've had to settle for the job they have. I forget there are people out there who like what they do.

This is really sad to hear Ghost World, IMHO.
I'm bittersweet about my freelance advertising career: selling shite that nobody needs by creating unrealistic dreamworlds. However, I am able to travel, meet incredible people, and have experiences that I would otherwise never imagine.... I love to hate it & hate to love it...

This summer I have mainly been:

Zapping around Britain on the MBV trail (wonderful experience, and I hope it's not the last time I'll be able to say that).

I've got a new job monitoring CCTV cameras, pretty ideal as it combines my twin pastimes of being nosey and sitting on my fat arse.  (Did you know that 40% of all the CCTV cameras in the world are in Britain?  Weird.)

And I've found a wonderful partner who's prepared to put up with me.  That's why I'm not on here so often these days, far too busy with the whips and handcuffs I'm afraid.  mxy's in love.  xxx
